If you want some of the best gourmet organic food available, you have to head to the Ferry Building Marketplace. It's a collection of world-class food and wine from Northern California's most accomplished independent farmers and artisan producers. There are also restaurants and cafes on site so you can enjoy these culinary delights during your visit.

This is a wonderful collection of local California produce, all under one roof - and if you're a foodie or just a hungry tourist, it's a worthwhile stop.

Great food of all kinds, local and organic.

Saturdays and Tuesdays at the Ferry Building. Sample all the lovely food and then take you breakfast outside with a bay view.

If you're a foodie, it cannot be missed. Saturday is the day to visit, but it's open all week.

A great restoration on the waterfront, with shops, cafes, restaurants, market stalls - so much nicer than Fishermans Wharf.

Great fresh food and coffee @ Blue Bottle Coffee - fantastic Saturday Farmers Market.

Incredible everything. Kimchi Fried Rice was definitely the stand out option.

Fabulous variety of foodstuffs including, on market days, gorgeous, fresh, organic, locally grown produce. Be sure to stop for breakfast at Il Cane Rosso (farro porridge is delish!), at Cowgirl Creamery for tasting and buying cheese, and at Acme bread to go with the cheese—and other places to supplement your perfect picnic.

Great food, produce, fun activity that's still outdoors.
