We’re big enough to admit that sometimes a traditional hotel room isn’t the best option. Then again, all serviced apartments certainly aren’t created equal. If you’re overly interested in definitions then you might wonder exactly how serviced a serviced apartment has to be before it’s simply a large hotel suite — we’ll just note that by any definition, Tyrian more than holds its own against all but the absolute top tier of luxury hotels.

Then again, try getting a three-bedroom suite at one of Melbourne’s luxury hotels for this price. You’ll forgo room service, but you’ll gain a kitchen and laundry as well as an in-house café, spa and hair salon, and you’re yards away from a supermarket and a number of restaurants. A bit of walking is no hardship in a compact, hip neighborhood like Fitzroy, especially if you’re on the sort of medium-term stay that generally sends guests looking for apartments in the first place.

As for the accommodations themselves, they start out more or less looking like large, stylish hotel suites, with fifty square meters of space and the sort of crisp modernist décor that makes the most of every centimeter. They quickly get quite large indeed, from the deluxe one-bedrooms, which feel like bona fide private residences, up to two- and three-bedroom options. And if you’re here to do some genuine business, fear not — though the bigger suites might seem like tempting party pads, there’s a strict policy against large-scale entertaining.
