Though it’s actually a bit more polished than its sister in Kui Buri, this one, the second resort in the X2 micro-chain brings a much-needed change of pace to Koh Samui. It’s a destination that’s been slightly over-civilized, to put it gently — the X2 approach, with its unfinished-looking surfaces of stone, wood and concrete, makes this island feel slightly wild again.
The location surely doesn’t hurt. Here, on the south side of the island, you’re as far as you can get from the tourist center at Chaweng, and the atmosphere is exceedingly calm, for Koh Samui. It’s not exactly white-glove luxury, but neither is it in any way rough — any hotel where the majority of accommodations come with plunge pools is decidedly a high-end one, however unpretentious.
And if it’s not exactly Robinson Crusoe—our copy of Defoe is at home but we’re fairly sure it never mentions spa treatments—at least it allows you to appreciate the raw charms of Koh Samui, minus some of the more unsavory elements. These beaches, these still waters — this is one of the world’s most supremely pleasant places, and we’ll take any chance we can get to recapture some small taste of its original, unspoiled charm.

What I liked:
Excellent service, superb food, lovely grounds, chic rooms and quiet atmosphere. Would love to visit again. Special touches by the staff that were unforgettable, such as making a cd of the music playing in the restaurant for a guest, catering to special dietary needs and providing a chef's demo for the meal, on a private dining session.
What the hotel could do better:
Nothing; Had a wonderful stay!

What I liked:
NIce Pool Villa, although basic rooms would be a let down (we were shown to one before reminding them that we were tablet plus)
What the hotel could do better:
Really poor service! We had a transfer from another hotel and they forgot to pick us up.
We were initially shown a basic room and it was very tired, with an overgrown garden. Furniture by the pool was also tired, including a sun lounger breaking with rusty joints! They clean the rooms when you ask, problem is we had to ask twice on one of the days for a cleaner to come. The restaurant is the only real access to food in the area and the menu didn’t change in a week, even though it talks about being fresh and based on local produce. Was served a frozen beer with dinner and was asked to wait for it to warm up, which is laughable! Upon checking out they said we had used the mosquito spray, which we stated we hadn’t. They then phoned house keeping and then said that we did. We could even describe where it was in the room and eventually after I lost my temper they dropped the issue. It ticks the ‘cool’ box but unfortunately backs it up with dreadful service.

What I liked:
I do like some parts of the architectural design of the hotel.
What the hotel could do better:
Though the hotel emphasize on conservation, I would think they should at least have a light on near the door in the villa as when its at night, i couldnt see where my keys are going when trying to open the door inside the villa. The breakfast was boring as its feel like there is no chef designing any menu & everyday is the same spread which could be boring after you stay more than 2 days. Also it would be nice if all the staff could remember the guest name.
