What I liked:

The hotel was stylish yet tasteful, careful use of colors to add vibrance without disturbing the overall calm atmosphere. The pool and breakfast were lovely. The staff went above and beyond, helping make sure that our stay was absolutely perfect. I hope to return!

What the hotel could do better:

Bikes for hire need a little TLC. =)

Hotel Description

The island of Naxos might not have the party scene of Mykonos or the dramatic lava-birthed vistas of Santorini, but it’s certainly no slouch when it comes to Aegean splendor. Besides its fair share of ancient ruins and unspoiled beaches, Naxos is an agricultural haven (its potatoes are among the most coveted in Greece). Just as great ingredients make for great meals, the natural elements of the island work together to provide a worthy setting for what might be the first boutique hotel on the island, Finikas Hotel. To get there, just follow the strange beauty of the island’s cedars-and-dunes topography down to picturesque Agali Bay.

At twenty-three rooms, the size is just right — there’s more than enough beachfront real estate for those who crave seclusion without foregoing the amenities of resort living. The soft palette of creams and lavenders is soothing — Finikas isn’t out to bludgeon its guests with innovative modern design, and the panoramic views of the sea are memorable enough. Those in search of more space and privacy can opt for one of the larger suites, rounded out by a spacious terrace and dining room.

Naxos is the largest of the Cycladic islands, though it’s eminently bikeable — and Finikas is only too happy to loan you a set of wheels. After a long day of poking around Venetian castles, Apollo’s Gate and the old walled city, fill up on locally sourced delights at the hotel’s restaurant, or take dinner to go for some al fresco dining at water’s edge.

Please note: Finikas Hotel is open seasonally mid May to mid October.

How to get there:

There are several flights to Naxos International Airport. Flight time from Athens to Naxos is approximately 45 minutes. Ferries from Mykonos to Naxos take approximately 35 minutes. For assistance with transfers, please contact CustomerService@TabletHotels.com.
