Hotel Description

San Miguel de Allende is one of Mexico’s national treasures, a beautifully preserved colonial city, rich with centuries-old architecture, charming historical attractions and hundreds of churches and cathedrals. On a hillside above the city center, in a private park in the Atascadero residential district, lies La Puertecita, a small luxury boutique whose unique location makes not just for commanding views of the city’s rooftops, but also for a measure of seclusion from the old town’s bustling street life (not to mention the distant clanging of church bells).

The compound sits at the end of a cobblestone street, and is surrounded by acres of terraced gardens and lush parkland. The architecture is colonial, of course, with plenty of white stucco and wrought iron, ornate tile work, and heavy antique wooden doors.

There’s no shortage of space; rooms, even the standard ones, are spacious, and the suites almost palatial, with king beds or two queens, and the occasional fireplace or garden bath. Tiled bathrooms and thick terry robes add to the comfort, while internet connections and cable television keep guests connected to the outside world.

Facilities include two outdoor pools, a jacuzzi and a fitness center, and arrangements can be made for golf or tennis nearby. The Restaurante La Puertecita is rated one of the best in the city, and takes a down-to-earth, anti-gourmet approach to hearty and traditional Mexican cuisine. For added privacy, reserve La Palapa, the private treehouse dining room, which seats 4 to 6 guests with a view of a 300-year-old aqueduct, and includes service by a private chef.

How to get there:

La Puertecita Boutique Hotel is approximately a 1 1/2 hour drive from both Querétaro Airport and León Bajio Airport. The hotel offers a private transportation service for $110.00 USD one way for one or two people. Please contact customerservice@tablethotels.com to arrange an airport transfer.
