The third in a franchise that includes the Milanese Town Houses 12 and 31, Turin’s Town House 70 is of a piece with its sisters — a classical facade on a city center street hiding the kind of effortlessly stylish interiors that, if it’s not overly parochial to say so, the Italians seem to do best. It’s modern design in service of hospitality, as it should be — a hotel room should be calming and restful above all else, should it not? — rather than as eye candy or design-magazine headline fodder.
Most rooms are junior suites, complete with sitting rooms, though there are a handful of double and even single rooms available for those on a tighter budget. The bathrooms throughout are shower-only, but stylish, outfitted with sleek modern fixtures and Bulgari bath products.
Town House 70 is, as the name may indicate, more a fashionable bolthole than some kind of urban resort. As such, services are trimmed-down — there’s a breakfast room, and room service as well, but no restaurant. And while the Town House 12 in Milan is home to the big-deal Absolut Icebar, the 70 makes do with a quiet little lounge. No matter — you’re meant to take advantage of the city center location, and get out and see a bit of Turin for yourself.
