Hotel Description

Though it’s a boutique hotel in stylistic terms, in fact it’s anything but a mom-and-pop operation. The Hotel towers over Avenue Louise and Boulevard de Waterloo, it’s fair to say, rising some 27 floors in a city that’s not exactly known for its verticality. You might surmise that it was built by one of the major chains, and you’d be right — these days it belongs to a slightly smaller Swedish hospitality concern, and it’s been thoroughly redesigned, practically rebuilt, and re-branded as a one-off, hence its slightly grandiose name: The Hotel.

With 421 rooms it’d be tough to pick a favorite. Fortunately they’re all quite stylish, somewhat sober, in black, white and neutrals, contemporary but with the faintest echo of Art Deco. The fixtures, furnishing and fittings are all up to date, thanks to that recent refurbishment, and these rooms are as wired as any, from the free wi-fi to the connections which allow your devices access to the 46-inch HD televisions and the in-room audio systems.

The Restaurant, fittingly enough, is the name of The Hotel’s restaurant, serving a sort of permutational menu, with various preparations of a fixed number of ingredients. Less conceptual is Tea Time with Lovisa, the lobby lounge’s afternoon tea service. And naturally there’s also The Bar, a modern cocktail bar with a bit of an emphasis on gin. Large-scale hospitality with small-hotel aesthetics — maybe this is the future of the boutique age for all those leftover Sixties hotel towers.
