Hotel Description

Which palm, you ask? That’d be The Palm, with a capital T, the famously palm-shaped man-made micro-archipelago that sits just off the shore of mainland Dubai. Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort makes its home on the outer crescent, just past the end of the third frond on the right, if you’re looking at it from space.

Of course, if you’re looking at it from space, you’re not going to get the full effect. This Thai-inspired luxury resort is best experienced from within, whether from the humblest Lagoon View Room — not all that humble, sprawling as they do over nearly fifty square meters — or from an Over Water Villa, the sort of thing you typically have to travel to the Indian Ocean for a crack at.

It’s a unique situation they’ve got going here, on this terraformed island — plentiful beach access, shallow water, and the lagoon is the pool, winding its way from villa to villa, from room to room, because a simple Olympic-sized rectangle just wouldn’t do. (Book a Lagoon Access Room and you can wade straight in from your doorstep.)

The Anantara Spa is suitably extravagant, as are the restaurants: Mekong serves Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese fare, while Bushman’s is an Australian steakhouse, and why shouldn’t it be? This being Dubai, you’re not here to crawl the backstreets in search of vibrant local color — what you want is an extremely forceful dose of contemporary luxury, and that, for all the Anantara’s visual subtlety, is what you’ll get.
