For some in the United States, summer is already a distant memory \u2014 the wall already erected between the season\u2019s carefree days and back-to-school\u2019s rigid reality check. <\/p>\n<p>For others, though, there\u2019s still time. In his documentary about U.S. national parks, Ken Burns called them \u201cAmerica\u2019s Best Idea.\u201d President Teddy Roosevelt, one of the people most responsible for their existence, agreed, saying:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cHere is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children\u2019s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That about sums it up.
