What is this?

We select, you rate. Scores are on a 20-point scale, and they're assigned by our members who actually stayed there. If a hotel's rating falls below 16, it's gone — so your post-stay review is actually our most important quality-control tool. Thanks for that.

The London hotel scene is something of a proving ground for new trends in the hotel business — but you’d have to look long and hard at No11 Cadogan Gardens to find any evidence of progress. This is a hotel that delights in keeping to the trailing edge rather than the cutting one, a small monument to old-fashioned hospitality and a reminder of a time long past.

This is the original Chelsea townhouse hotel, comprising four old Victorian houses facing a garden square just off Sloane Street, midway between Harrods and Sloane Square. Tucked away in upscale Knightsbridge, with gilded oil portraits lining the walls and an informal reception consisting of just a butler and a guest book, it all feels as much like a grand private residence as a hotel. The bedrooms are as charming as can be, stocked with antique furnishings, fine fabrics, and Ormonde Jayne products in the elegant marble bathrooms. All rooms are individually decorated, and vary in layout as well; some upper-floor suites face out the back, looking over a private garden.

A dining room decorated in breezy blue and white serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and afternoon tea is taken in the drawing room, followed by sherry and canapes in the early evening. Of course your dining options extend beyond the No11 kitchen; cafés and restaurants abound up and down Sloane Street and Kings Road, as do shops of every conceivable variety. From here a trip to Harrods is practically obligatory, and the Victoria and Albert and the Natural History and Science museums lie just beyond.

Please note: No11 Cadogan Gardens will be undergoing renovations beginning on August 4. During the renovations, guests may occasionally hear construction noise, and scaffolding placed on the hotel exterior during certain phases of the project may obstruct views from some guest rooms.

How to get there:
